Mirror Mirror on the Wall
The controversial, plastic, duck-lipped, attention-loving blonde star of the Hills, Heidi Montag, has some serious self image issues, right? But let’s be fair…don’t all women? I do….too many to count! I don’t really know the psychology behind it but in my case, I’m thinking it has something to do with my childhood and not having a father figure to tell me how special and pretty I was. Another poor me story! 🙂 Actually, you’ve got to give this type of insecurity some credit! I’m quite fond of it for it fosters an interesting type of multiplicity in my life.
Body modifications are interesting because they are physical changes that can be brought on by a mental state or temporary mental phase. Just between you and me, the reason I colored my hair recently is because I read one stupid article in Reader’s Digest (blush) that said that darker hair can age your face. I admit I freaked a little. I have this fear of looking older. It’s stupid I know.
At my company, a lot of women are making changes….we have boob jobs, nose jobs, waxing (lots and lots of waxing,) Botox, fillers, liposuction, lash extensions, Latiese, tattoos, piercings, contacts, more makeup, less makeup and my absolute favorite….the OFF SEASON TAN! These things are the output….but what are the inputs? Boredom, revenge, stagnation, confidence booster, wedding, break up, divorce, Christmas party, new boyfriend, cheating spouse, career advancement, insecurity, need for attention, Hollywood star influence, mid-life crises (and these are just mine!)
Let’s get back to basics. Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart!
Well said! Sometimes I feel the need to be plain. On the weekends of course! But the fun in the cosmetology industry is that one little bang trim that makes a person feel amazing. Plus the upside is you can always let it grow out or change the color.
AMEN! You, Teresa are beautiful from heart to face.
